Julen Lopetegui's West Ham could turn their attention to LaLiga EA Sports to sign one of the young full-backs with the greatest projection in the tournament, who, by the way, was on the agenda of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid as a candidate to reinforce their side right

Calendar of FC Barcelona

For Barça fans, the name Arnau Martínez shouldn't be unknown. The 21-year-old full-back, currently playing for Girona CF, at one point was seen as an option to strengthen the right flank with one of La Liga EA Sports' most promising young talents, with a €20 million release clause that made him a real possibility for both the present and future of the club.

However, after the 2023/24 season, his name fell somewhat into obscurity. Why? In the Girona team's surprising campaign last year, Martínez didn't play such a prominent role in the team, accumulating only 26 appearances (1,567 minutes) and losing his place in the starting eleven to Brazilian Yan Couto, who claimed that position.

Since there are no signs that he will renew his contract with Girona before it expires on June 30, 2025, it wouldn't be surprising for the club to be open to offers for his transfer. Additionally, it's worth noting that some teams still consider Arnau as an interesting asset for their sporting projects.

West Ham, a potential new destination for Arnau Martínez

At this point, the full-back could be on the radar of a Premier League team. In fact, as reported by 'El Nacional.cat', West Ham, under Julen Lopetegui's leadership, is interested in acquiring the services of the full-back to bolster their sporting project, which has already brought in players like Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Füllkrug, Luis Guilherme and Guido Rodríguez.

So far, there hasn't been a formal offer from the Hammers to acquire Arnau Martínez. However, it's clear that any attempt to convince him to join the club will require an economically attractive proposal, given that Girona does not have an immediate need to sell the player. Also, with Yan Couto's departure to Borussia Dortmund, the Premià de Dalt native could have serious chances to reclaim his spot in the 'Girona' starting eleven.

Despite this, Martínez may be attracted to the idea of a change, especially towards English football, which offers a competitive and appealing environment, along with substantial salary offers. These factors could strengthen West Ham's proposal to establish themselves among the top teams in England, bringing youth, talent, and potential to their squad.
