Joshua Kimmich's future is one of Bayern Munich's 'hot potatoes'. The midfielder's contract expires in June 2025 and several of the continent's biggest clubs, including FC Barcelona, are closely following his situation in view of the possibility of incorporating him into their squad as a free agent.

However, from the offices of the Allianz Arena they do not give up on him by any means. The Bavarians insist on securing the renewal of the German star and trust that the negotiations between both parties will come to fruition, since the footballer is seen within the club as the future captain of the first team.

Kimmich will have the last word on his future

This was confessed by the club's sporting director, Max Eberl, who assured that "when Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller finish their careers, Kimmich will be the face of Bayern. The conversations are open and are going well. Joshua knows that we love him. Now he has to decide if he wants a new challenge or to become a Bayern legend."

The statements of the German executive suggest that, despite the fact that the conversations with Kimmich are positive, the player has not yet made a definitive decision. At Can Barça they do not lose sight of the 'soap opera' of the German, who did not rule out his possible arrival to the Ciudad Condal by stating that "in football, one can never make the mistake of ruling out possibilities. Now, to answer directly, I do not think about it, but in football you should never rule out anything."

Although the Blaugrana team, and especially Hansi Flick, would look very favourably on the signing of Kimmich, the reality is that his signing is no longer a priority at the club due to the appearances of Marc Casadó and Marc Bernal. However, the possibility of adding him to the first team at zero cost is too attractive to completely discard it, so all options remain on the table.
