Pau Víctor was very close to changing teams in the past winter transfer window. The name of the forward from San Cugat del Vallés, with all the controversy regarding his registration, became the subject of various rumors, most of which pointed to a departure from FC Barcelona at the end of the 2024-25 season. This was especially evident when several clubs showed interest in his services.

One of those teams, as recently reported in 'SPORT', was Galatasaray led by Okan Buruk. During the winter transfer window, 'Galata' was looking for a quality forward on loan and considering Pau Víctor's situation at FC Barcelona, he was on their list of possible additions to reinforce a forward line that already featured Victor Osimhen on loan (Napoli) and also Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal. However, the Argentine unfortunately is recovering from a torn meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and is not expected to play for the rest of the season.

Why didn't Pau Víctor end up signing for Galatasaray?

Returning to the case of the potential signing of Pau Víctor by Galatasaray, the deal ultimately fell through due to the resolution of his registration. Despite having a provisional nature, it allows him to be registered and play for FC Barcelona.

Although he is not the first choice as an offensive spark since Ferran Torres has earned that position as a natural replacement for Robert Lewandowski, Pau Víctor has had the opportunity to play in some matches, precisely 21. The former Girona player has seized these chances to score two goals and provide an assist.

On the other hand, the option to join Galatasaray, the current champions of Turkish football, was ruled out when 'Galata' secured the loan of the 32-year-old Spanish forward, Álvaro Morata. This definitively closed the door to a potential move to Turkey for Pau Víctor, who is fully committed to FC Barcelona and prefers to continue wearing the colors of the Blaugrana club, being a true culé at heart.
