Pau Víctor: Barça does not consider his loan, but Flick cannot find a place for him

Pau Víctor's situation at FC Barcelona is complex. Although the forward has few opportunities, the club does not see a clear loan option in the winter market
Pau Víctor's future at FC Barcelona seems resolved, at least for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Despite Betis' interest in the 23-year-old forward and his limited involvement with the team in recent weeks, the management does not see a feasible loan exit, neither economically nor sportingly. The salary of '18' has never been a problem for the club's wage bill, beyond the mess with LaLiga and the RFEF over his late registration.
Similarly, providing another rival in LaLiga with a solution to their offensive problems is not sensible, especially not for a player who has the confidence of Hansi Flick. Yes, the coach counts on him, even if this is not evident on the field. The former B team forward has barely played 18 minutes (in the Cup, against Betis) in the last 6 matches of Barça (he missed 2 matches due to not having a license to play), totaling just 238' spread over 18 appearances (3 goals and 1 assist).
Barça does not plan to loan Pau Víctor in January
In this sense, the club's stance and that of the coaching staff are not open to discussion. At least not for now. Pau Víctor will not leave in January, even if this means condemning him to another semester with few appearances in the first team. Hansi Flick counts on him, although it is complicated to give him quality minutes with Ferran Torres as the first alternative to Robert Lewandowski.
The return of Gavi also indirectly affects the available opportunities for the player from San Cugat del Vallés, as the Andalusian has become another offensive solution for the Barça scheme. Even Dani Olmo, who like the forward was affected by the mess with the RFEF and LaLiga, does not have his place in the XI secured at this point in the season.
The competition is fierce in the Barça squad, but '18' will have to resign himself to his role as a substitute, unless an offer for an immediate transfer arrives, something unlikely before the winter market closes. The one who is on the transfer list is Ansu Fati, but '10' insists on staying. The departure of the player from Bissau would indeed open the door for Marcus Rashford, the only feasible reinforcement for Barça for the second half of the 24-25 season.
