The tough defeat in Pamplona against Osasuna (4-2) reopens the debate in FC Barcelona about the need to incorporate another 'top' full-back in the next market

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona does not rule out going for another full-back in the winter market, a position that the club already ruled out reinforcing in the summer due to its 'Fair Play' problems. Between July and August, names such as Joshua Kimmich and Joao Cancelo were mentioned a lot, but the lack of cash on hand closed the door to any incorporation. Hansi Flick has opted for the kids as alternatives to Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, but the tough defeat against Osasuna (4-2) showed the lack of Barca's wardrobe.

THE POLL Should Barça sign a full-back in January?

In Pamplona, Barça suffered a lot on the sides, especially on the right. Koundé gave too many spaces to Bryan Zaragoza and both Pau Cubarsí and Sergi Domínguez had a very difficult time in the background. At the moment, the Frenchman has played every possible minute, while Héctor Fort has barely accumulated 117 minutes of action in 5 games. The other alternatives on the right are Ronald Araújo (injured) and Eric García, the latter converted into a pivot.

On the left, the outlook is not entirely encouraging either. Gerard Martín has performed well as Balde's substitute, but it is evident that the team needs a higher-ranking replacement for the position. Fort can also cover the left side, a position he occupied during the second half of 23/24 due to the loss of Álex. Looking ahead to the winter market there are not many 'low cost' options available. However, if the club balances its books before the end of the year, the board is likely to go for another full-back in January.
