FC Barcelona does not rule out activating a 'plan b' for the signing of Nico Williams this summer. Although the Barça board hopes to soon have the necessary liquidity to pay the 58 million euros to Athletic Club corresponding to the winger's clause, at Can Barça they have several 'cracks' on the table who, in principle, could land in Catalonia at change of about 60 'kilos' and, even, with more affordable salaries than in Pamplona.
This is the case of players like Luis Díaz and Jadon Sancho. Both Liverpool and Manchester United are open to negotiating the transfer of the Colombian and the Englishman, respectively, with the former Borussia Dortmund being the one who seems to best fit the profile that Barça is looking for, mainly due to the age factor. The possibility of going after Julián Álvarez also remains open, since the Argentine seems willing to leave Manchester City to secure a starting place in another 'big' team.
Less clear, although equally open, is the outlook for Leory Sané. Bayern Munich could let him go for around 50 'kilos', but his irregularity in recent seasons raises serious doubts about his profitability. Joshua Kimmich and Martín Zubimendi remain with a more conservative profile, two players that the club has followed for a long time to reinforce its midfield. The German was, in principle, Hansi Flick's most desired signing, although the emoluments he aspired to ended up distancing him from Barça.
With Zubimendi, on the other hand, the salary issue would not be a problem, but the new culé coach, unlike Xavi Hernández, is not so clear about going after the Basque to make him the team's '5'. A much more unlikely, though no less interesting, alternative is Trent-Alexander Arnold. Barça still cannot find a guaranteed right back and the Englishman, in Real Madrid's sights for 2025, has the ideal experience and characteristics to shine in LaLiga. With only one year remaining on his contract, his signing could be a real bargain.
