Recently, an important statement was made by an official spokesperson of FC Barcelona. Enric Masip, presidential advisor to Joan Laporta at the Catalan club, hinted that Paris Saint-Germain was the club that made an 'astronomical' offer of over €250 million to sign Lamine Yamal.
Masip took advantage of the cameras at 'El Chiringuito de Jugones' and during an interview with Josep Pedrerol, did not hesitate to emphasize the truth of the offer received and the firmness with which Joan Laporta rejected it, stating: "The president has already said that he had an offer of €250 million and rejected it, as he had never considered it".
Now, although Masip did not directly mention Paris Saint-Germain, in his statements he mentioned that the proposal came from the French nation, making it clear that it came from a team with enough economic power to make an offer of that caliber. "It came from France. When you have the money and means to pay, you can aspire to sign anyone," concluded Enric.
PSG categorically denied making an offer for Lamine Yamal
In response to these statements, PSG apparently felt targeted and through a media outlet like 'L'Équipe', emphatically denied these claims. According to the French newspaper, the French team argued that they could not afford to make such a large proposal last summer, possibly due to necessary adjustments for financial fair play, which prevented them from making a 'galactic' signing.
Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain acknowledged that their sporting director, Luis Campos, conducted some market research on the player, maintaining contacts and keeping the file open, something normal in his work, but emphasized that they never made an offer for a Lamine Yamal whom Barcelona has stated on several occasions is not for sale.
