The Paris Saint-Germain board will make a great effort in 2025 to try to sign Lamine Yamal. The French team will seek to emulate its pact with Neymar in 2017

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain seems to have already decided on Lamine Yamal as the ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappé. After a summer in which the club ruled out incorporating another 'top' forward to cover the loss of Bondy's, the summer of 2025 could see an unprecedented investment by the Qatari executive to shield the attack of Luis Enrique's men. The club spent €170 million on reinforcements in the last transfer window, a considerable amount despite not bringing in high-profile players.

In that sense, the board led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi will seek to 'break' the market with another 'record' transfer, again with FC Barcelona as the objective of its offensive. According to the latest information from France, PSG will have no qualms about trying to emulate the negotiation with Neymar Jr. in 2017. The club gave the Brazilian the 222 million euros corresponding to his clause, with which the then Barça striker acquired his freedom to go to Paris.

With Lamine, the scenario is more complex, since his clause is 1,000 million euros, a practically unpayable amount for any team, but not for the powerful Qatari Sovereign Investment Fund (Qatar Investment Authority). The negotiation would include an elite salary for the youth player, in addition to very high transfer bonuses for both the footballer and Jorge Mendes. However, the '19' will always have the last word on his future.

PSG's plan to truncate Lamine's renewal with Barça

To sign Yamal, Paris must move cautiously, but they cannot wait long. Barça has already agreed to renew the Esplugues de Llobregat player until 2026, although the contract must be reviewed again in July of next year to update the player's record and sign a new contract for five more seasons, until June 2031. Therefore, the Paris will seek to prevent this contract from being signed, forcing Barça to negotiate given the possibility of losing the 'crack' for free in 2026.

The board's idea is to set a salary of around €3-4 million net to the extreme, more than double what he receives as a youth player (€1.7 million net). In France, on the other hand, he could bill around 20-30 clean 'kilos' a year, absolute madness for a kid who has just turned 18 years old. Beyond the rain of millions from PSG, in Can Barça, for now, there is absolute calm about Lamine's future, although the rumors coming from the French capital are making more and more noise. From now on, the club must keep its guard up to avoid another 'Neymar case'.
