PSG insists on Gavi, but Barça will not listen to offers this summer

The Paris Saint-Germain will make a new effort to try to turn Pablo Páez Gavira, Gavi, into their next star signing. PSG coach, Luis Enrique, has shown great interest in the Andalusian for some time. After all, he was the one who gave him the opportunity to debut in the Spanish National Team when he was a teenager and now he is determined to bring him to France.

In this sense, Paris is preparing a multimillion-dollar offer to convince Barça to sell Gavi. The latest rumors point to a figure of up to 80 million euros, which includes a mega-contract to make the culé '6' one of the highest-paid footballers on the planet. However, the player from Los Palacios and Villafranco, does not think about leaving the azulgrana team and recently renewed until 2030.

And it is that, despite PSG's interest, the 20-year-old player has clearly expressed his desire to stay at FC Barcelona, reaffirming his commitment to the club despite the tough competition for a spot in Hansi Flick's XI. In fact, the lack of minutes at Barça in some stretches of the 24-25 season has generated uncertainty about his future, but the Andalusian has no doubts about the confidence that the coaching staff and the board have placed in him.

Dembélé sparked rumors about PSG's interest in Gavi

This week, Ousmane Dembélé, Gavi's former teammate at Barça and PSG's top scorer this season, reignited rumors about PSG's interest by changing his profile picture on Instagram to one with the azulgrana midfielder. In the snapshot, the Andalusian player is seen up close, alongside the French winger during a training session with the culés. 

Barça and Paris could only face each other again this year in the Champions League in a hypothetical final. Last season, Luis Enrique's team eliminated the Catalans in the quarter-finals, with a stellar performance from 'Dembouz' in the return leg in Montjuïc (1-4). In any case, PSG will wait until summer to formally enter the bidding for the azulgrana '6', presenting an offer hard to refuse for a Barcelona in need of cash to strengthen itself.

Gavi's release clause remains at 1 billion euros, which complicates any possible transfer, even if an offer close to 100 million arrives at Barça's offices. The culé stance, of course, could change if the midfielder expresses his desire to leave, a scenario that, for now, is not contemplated at Can Barça.
