Eric García has several suitors in LaLiga: What plans does Barça have?
Real Sociedad seems determined to double down on their bet for Eric García. The 'txuri urdines' know that the defender has no place in the team next season, beyond the trust that Hansi Flick has placed in him to cover some significant absences in the center of defense and in the pivot position. Moreover, the Catalans need to raise funds in the upcoming market.
Barça is currently open to negotiating the departure of the 24-year-old player. Although he has had minutes this season due to injuries to other teammates, his role in the team is not a priority. The coaching staff values his versatility as a center-back and pivot, but internal competition and the club's plans to strengthen other positions make his continuity uncertain.
Real Sociedad and Girona press for Eric García
In this sense, the club has set an exit price close to 10 million euros, although some sources mention figures of up to 15 'kilos' depending on negotiations. In the case of Real, the Donostiarras have had many problems covering the absence of Robin Le Normand, and the '24' from Barça is the preferred choice of coach Imanol Alguacil for this position.
Moreover, doubts about the continuity of Nayef Aguerd also prompt the Real board to move quickly in search of another center-back. Girona has been the club that, since last summer, has pursued the signing of Eric with the most insistence. Míchel wanted to bring him back in the last two markets, but Barça refused to listen to offers, first due to the absence of Ronald Araujo and later at Flick's express request.
However, looking ahead to the summer, the possible arrival of Jonathan Tah to the culé defense, along with the return of Marc Bernal to the midfield, leaves him without a place in the squad even if Andreas Christensen also packs his bags in the summer. In any case, Barça will wait for offers starting in July and renewing the contract of the 24-year-old player is not ruled out, as there is no intention to let him go for free in 2026.
