Pedri González is much closer to ensuring his continuity at FC Barcelona, something that the 22-year-old player has never had in doubt. The club understands the renewal of the midfielder as a priority issue that, in principle, should be resolved at the beginning of 2025, once the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor are resolved for the second half of the season.
On Tuesday morning, just before the Tenerife player's exhibition against Stade Brest, Deco and his agent, Héctor Peris, had a brief meeting to lay the foundations for what will be the new contract of the '8'. In principle, the Tegueste native will sign for four or five more seasons, which will ensure his permanence in Barcelona, at least, until 2030 or 2031.
Likewise, the club will make a significant adjustment to the midfielder's salary, which currently invoices around 9 million net per season. Pedri made his debut for Barça in September 2020 and has already made 162 official appearances for the first team, with which he has accumulated 27 goals and 21 assists.
Hansi Flick's plan has cleared up doubts about Pedri's fitness
In 2024/25, the Tegueste native has managed to overcome the physical problems that plagued him in 2022 and 2023, thanks to the work plan drawn up by Hansi Flick and the Barça physical trainers. Julio Tous has supervised the workloads, avoiding giving him excessive rest between games, not only to him, but to the rest of the squad.
At the moment, Pedri has accumulated 1,386 minutes of action spread over 19 games in which he has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists. The coaching staff has managed his appearances without any problems, giving him a rest in only 2 of the 14 league games played so far, although the Tenerife native has played minutes in all of the matches played by Barça this season.
