FC Barcelona could be receiving a new improved offer from Juventus for Ronald Araujo, but will it be enough to convince the culé club?
The future of Ronald Araujo at FC Barcelona seems to be taking shape with greater certainty about his stay in the Catalan team. In recent days, there have been discussions about the option to extend the contractual bond, although a satisfactory agreement for both parties has not yet been reached.
Apparently, there is a mutual willingness to extend the contract, making the possibility of reaching an agreement quite likely. Additionally, with the injury to Iñigo Martínez, who could be out for about five weeks due to a possible rupture of the femoral biceps in his right leg, it is likely that Ronald Araujo will regain prominence in Barcelona's starting eleven and solidify his position in the team.
Given this situation, it's not surprising that the Catalan club has refused to consider a sale during this winter transfer window, leaving Juventus, a club that was eager to make a move for Araujo, in an uncomfortable position. Although the 'Vecchia Signora' has shown interest in the Uruguayan defender to bolster their defense, it is becoming increasingly challenging for them to secure his acquisition.
Juventus remains persistent in their desire to sign Araujo
However, Juventus apparently will not give up in the race to sign Ronald Araujo. According to reports from 'Relevo', the 'Bianconeri' are considering increasing their financial offer to persuade Barcelona to part ways with the defender.
Although in the past there was speculation about an offer of 5 million euros for the Uruguayan's loan, with a mandatory purchase option of 25 million euros and an additional 5 million euros in 'bonuses', Barcelona now values Araujo much higher, between 60 and 80 million euros, as at his peak physical and sporting conditions, he can become one of the best central defenders in the world.
The new offer that 'Vecchia Signora' would be presenting for Ronald Araujo
It has been mentioned that Juventus could increase their offer to up to 50 million euros, although this amount may not meet Barcelona's expectations. Nonetheless, it would be a good starting point for negotiation if a satisfactory contractual agreement is not reached soon.
If an agreeable deal is not reached for both parties, the Barcelona team may have to look for a new destination for Ronald Araujo before his contract expires in 2026, to avoid losing him for free.
