Barça has initiated the 'operation secure' of its backbone with the renewals of Pedri and Araujo. Gavi and Lamine Yamal are next on the list
The FC Barcelona is clear that the project of Hansi Flick in the Catalan city will be built on the foundation of La Masia. Figures like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Gavi, Pedri, and Ronald Araujo have established themselves as the great pillars of the club's future, and although they have been under the 1:1 rule for a week and can sign normally, the priority for the culés is to ensure the continuity of these stars in the coming years.
For this reason, this week the sporting management of Barça has resumed the 'operation secure' of its young stars with the renewals of Ronald Araujo (25 years, until 2031) and Gerard Martín (22 years, 2028), thus consolidating the youngest squad in LaLiga with an average age of 24.1 years.
Additionally, the extension of the commitments of Pedri and Gavi is practically confirmed. While the club is only waiting for the signature of the Tenerife native, negotiations with the Andalusian are progressing positively, and it is only a matter of time before they finalize the definitive agreement, binding them to the institution until 2030.
Barça Awaits Lamine's 18th Birthday
Meanwhile, at Can Barça, they also have the renewal of Lamine Yamal secured. The 17-year-old star signed a new contract until 2026 because, being a minor, the law did not allow him to sign for longer, but according to 'Mundo Deportivo', the player agreed to a commitment with the club that when he turns 18 on July 13, he will extend his link until 2030.
A similar situation applies to Marc Bernal, also 17 years old, whose commitment to the club was improved at the beginning of the season and extended his stay, initially, until 2026, when his youth stage ends. Additionally, it includes three more optional years, until 2029, and they are only waiting to agree on the signing date, which is expected to be soon.
Finally, the club will address the contracts of Iñaki Peña, Ander Astralaga, Héctor Fort, Eric Garcia and the center-back Andrés Cuenca, who has already debuted with the first team, in the coming weeks, as their contracts expire in 2026, and in the Catalan city, they hope to agree on their renewals to thus 'secure' La Masia.
