As the upcoming summer transfer window approaches, several FC Barcelona players are on the radar of the major European leagues. In Gavi's case, Paris Saint-Germain is his main suitor.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Luis Enrique is clear about who should be the next star reinforcement for Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming transfer window. Beyond the need to bring in a 'killer', the Asturian coach favors the signing of Pablo Páez Gavira, Gavi, one of the players he debuted with Spain after his time on the La Roja bench. 'Lucho' has always seen the '6' of FC Barcelona as an attacking player and, in his PSG, he would once again bet on him as an attacking midfielder.

Not for nothing, Gavi wore the '9' of the National Team in the last World Cup, where Spain was eliminated in the round of 16 by Morocco. The Andalusian had a very challenging 2024 after suffering a serious injury at the end of 2023 with the National Team and only this year has he begun to show flashes of his inexhaustible quality and intensity on the field. So far this season, the 20-year-old midfielder has scored a couple of goals and provided 3 assists in 24 matches (894 minutes) with Hansi Flick's team.

However, he has not been able to firmly establish himself in the German's scheme, due to tough competition with Dani Olmo and Fermín López for a spot in the starting XI. With the trident formed by Lamine, Raphinha, and Lewandowski being untouchable alongside Pedri González, the only rotations the coach makes involve the starting positions of Frenkie de Jong and Marc Casadó, along with the attacking midfielder who accompanies the fearsome 'LRL'.

Barça is not open to negotiating for Gavi this summer

In this sense, Luis Enrique's intention is to convince Gavi to move to Paris, where he would be guaranteed a leading role from the start of preseason. The player from Los Palacios and Villafranca has a contract until 2030 and a buyout clause of 1 billion euros, but PSG, aware of Barça's need to close one or two high-value sales to strengthen in the summer, would try to sign the '6' with an offer around 80 million euros.

Regardless of how high the Parisian offer might be, the Barcelona board does not plan to negotiate for Gavi this summer. At Can Barça, the Andalusian is considered, along with Pedri and Lamine, as a flagship of the culé sports project, so his future is not in doubt. Nevertheless, PSG and other 'heavyweights' in Europe will make an effort for the Spanish international, who despite his long inactivity remains one of the most promising midfielders on the old continent.
