Marcin Bulka has "confirmed" Barça's interest in signing him. The Pole has 'exploded' in Nice and the Catalans see him as Ter Stegen's replacement
The name of Marcin Bulka is beginning to resonate in the corridors of FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana are studying the incorporation of a goalkeeper with potential during the next summer to take over from Ter Stegen in the short and medium term, and the spectacular form of the Pole in Nice has led to the Catalans including him on their list of potential players for the 2025 transfer market.
The promising goalkeeper is aware of this and is not hiding it either, as he has made clear since the concentration of Poland. In the hours before the clashes against Portugal and Croatia, the goalkeeper spoke to the national media and spoke about his present and the uncertainty of his future, since he has been negotiating his renewal with the French team for months without reaching an agreement, which has triggered rumours regarding his departure.
Bulka, whose contract expires in 2026, made it clear that he is aware of Barça's interest in signing him, although he 'cleared the ball' by saying that he prefers that issues related to his future be handled by his agent.
"As they say, in every rumour there is a grain of truth. When it comes to transfer issues, I would prefer my agent to speak"
"It is definitely a compliment. When someone talks about these clubs it is always an extra incentive for me and a sign that I am doing something right. If I did not play well, probably no one would say that. Today I am in Nice and I am focusing on the club, because we are only at the beginning of a long season. I have to be even more focused on the here and now to prove that those who say it are right," he added.
Szczesny's replacement in Poland... and also at Barça?
Bulka took over from Szczesny in the Poland national team once the now Barça goalkeeper announced his retirement from football. At 25, Marcin is clear that the time has come to step up and play for a big club with the chance of winning major European titles.
"I have my dreams and goals. I want to play in the Champions League, I want to play for the national team in major tournaments and be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. I don't have a dream club where I would like to play. You have to be realistic, today I am in Nice and I have a contract until 2026. I want to have a very good season and help the club qualify for the Champions League, because that also depends on me. Then we will see what happens next," he said.
Finally, he made it clear that his relationship with Nice is going through a tense moment and his renewal remains 'stalled'. "I'm talking to the club, but nothing has been clarified. We started the conversation ourselves a year ago, the response was not what we expected. We just had to wait, although we were the first to approach and want to talk. Obviously, people don't stay still, they develop, so it's also necessary to talk about the future. Time goes by quickly and you have to take everything you can," he concluded.
