Bayern and City fiercely compete for Wirtz, who will win?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The auction for Florian Wirtz is at a 'boiling point'. The 21-year-old forward, who has scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 39 matches (2,917 minutes) this season, is one of the most sought-after pieces in the transfer market, with teams like FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich have all shown interest in acquiring one of the greatest talents in the football world.

However, despite the insistence of these major clubs to secure the German's signing, it would be the Bavarians and the 'skyblues' who would have the edge in the race. Both teams consider signing the German a priority for the upcoming season, so they are already making moves to 'bring home the cat' and leave the two giants of Spain without options.

According to the newspaper 'AS', the Munich club will open the exit door for Kingsley Coman at the end of the season since, in order to sign Wirtz, they need to reduce their wage bill. By letting go of the Frenchman, who has a contract until 2027, Bayern would save an annual salary of around 17 million euros gross and could expect between 30 and 40 million euros in transfer fees, further facilitating the operation for the attacking midfielder.

City is already negotiating with Wirtz's agents

Manchester City, for its part, has taken a further step in its attempt to secure Wirtz's signature and, according to the portal 'Football Insider', they have already started conversations with the representatives of the Bayer Leverkusen star to begin paving the way for a hypothetical agreement that would take the player to the Etihad Stadium.

Both clubs are aware of the difficulty of the operation, as the Aspirins hope to retain him for at least one more season and, if they are forced to sell him, they would not ask for less than 100 million euros to let him go. However, both clubs are willing to make a significant effort to secure the signing of the German star and are jeopardizing the options of Barça and Madrid, who seem to be losing ground in what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting bidding wars in recent years.
