Barça is looking for Luis Díaz and could offer Araujo in a surprising exchange.
Luis Díaz is one of the names that resonates the most in the halls of FC Barcelona. The Colombian has become one of the main targets for the club's sports management ahead of next summer, as the club's idea is to strengthen the attack with a top-tier player and his profile is very appealing to Deco and his staff, which is why the culés are preparing an offensive to incorporate the player into Hansi Flick's squad.
The 'Guajiro', for his part, is waiting for a signal from the blue and garnet entity to decide his future, willing to wait but without getting his hopes up until the Catalans clarify their interest. His entourage has maintained informal contacts with the club, although there are still no concrete movements from the institution in the operation.
And the main 'hurdle' for the transfer is the financial aspect, as his signing could exceed 70 million euros, a figure that Barça will have to manage under the restrictions of LaLiga's financial 'fair play'. Moreover, the Liverpool, owner of his contract until 2027, has no intention of negotiating downwards, which could complicate the discussions.
Barça does not rule out a 'bomb' swap to sign Díaz
In this sense, from the offices of Spotify Camp Nou, they are studying different ways to reduce the cost of the operation for Díaz and they would be considering a route that could become the big 'bombshell' of the summer. According to the latest reports, the blaugranas do not rule out including Ronald Araujo in a swap that would end with the Uruguayan landing in Merseyside and the Colombian in the Catalan City.
The 26-year-old center-back is one of the most coveted players in the market, and the 'red' entity is closely following him as they see him as the ideal replacement for Virgil van Dijk, whose time at Anfield Road is nearing its end. The player has a clause valid from July 1 to 15 by which he could leave Barça for a figure ranging between 65 and 75 million, and he will have the final say regarding his future.
If the player decides to change scenery, Barça would welcome a swap that ends with 'Lucho' under Flick's orders. However, this scenario seems distant, as the culés are convinced that Araujo will continue wearing blue and garnet in the years to come, although everything will be defined during the first two weeks of the summer window and all options are, for now, on the table.
