FC Barcelona are still keeping an eye on Alexander Isak's situation at Newcastle. Now an issue has emerged that could soften the conditions of his possible exit. Which one? We tell you about it at FCBN

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona seems to have among its best considered options to reinforce the position of '9' with the 25-year-old Swedish striker, Alexander Isak. And why not? If the native of Solna has already established himself as one of the best attackers currently active in English football, having a 2024-25 season in which he has scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 28 matches, and where he can boast of scoring against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United, showing remarkable effectiveness against the 'big' teams.

With this in mind, it is not surprising that FC Barcelona wants to secure the services of a goal scorer who, prior to succeeding at Newcastle, has already demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess in other leagues. In fact, the tall striker came into the spotlight after establishing himself as a lethal '9' with Real Sociedad in Spain, scoring 44 goals and providing eight assists in 132 matches, which could make him an attractive asset for the 'culé' team given his experience in LaLiga.

However, it is clear that the main obstacle in FC Barcelona's interest in turning Alexander Isak into Robert Lewandowski's successor is his high release clause. Newcastle, aware of possessing a top-tier talent crucial to their sporting project, will not allow him to leave for less than €100M. Even recently, the English newspaper 'The Guardian' mentioned that his price could reach €180M, clearly an unaffordable amount for Barça.

Both FC Barcelona and other clubs interested in the services of Alexander Isak, who has a contract with Newcastle until June 30, 2028, unless there is a drastic change, would be subject to the pressure that the Swedish forward can exert to force his exit if he desires a change of scenery.

The condition under which Alexander Isak could force his exit from Newcastle

According to reports from 'El Nacional.cat', there apparently exists a condition that could potentially ease the terms of Alexander Isak's departure from Newcastle. The Catalan media suggests that, if the 'Magpies' fail to qualify for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League, this could be a reason for the Swedish forward to request his departure from the team.

This stance seems to reduce the exit price of the '9'. Apparently, the former Borussia Dortmund player wishes to compete in the Champions League next season and, if unsuccessful, will ask Newcastle to consider more affordable offers for him.

The outcome of this situation remains uncertain. Currently, Eddie Howe's team sits in sixth position in the Premier League with 41 points, outside the positions that grant access to the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. However, they are not far from the fourth spot which secures entry to the competition, currently held by Chelsea with a total of 43 points. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the 'Magpies' might fully engage in the battle to qualify for the Champions League.
