Barça remains hopeful for Jamal Musiala. The German's new contract with Bayern includes a clause that would allow him to leave the club in the future

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona dreamed of 'cooking up' a blockbuster next summer with Jamal Musiala as the star. The midfielder's contract with Bayern Munich was set to expire in 2026, and negotiations for his renewal had stalled for several months, prompting major clubs across the continent, including the Catalans, to prepare to attempt his signing at the end of the season.

However, from the offices of Allianz Arena, they put all their efforts into dispelling the interest of these teams and securing the future of one of their top stars, and after several weeks of intense negotiations, they managed to extend his contract until June 30, 2030.

Various reports stated that, aside from the sporting project, the Bavarians ultimately convinced him by offering a salary averaging between 25 and 26 million euros gross per year, making him, alongside Harry Kane and Manuel Neuer, one of the highest-paid players on the Munich squad.

The double clause that excites Barça about Musiala

However, the newspaper 'SportBild' has revealed that Musiala included an escape route in his new commitment to Bayern. According to the publication, the player's contract includes a double release clause that could allow his departure before the end of his contract in five years.

The first would be valid in 2028 and would have a value of 175 million euros, while the second would come into effect in 2029, a year before he becomes a free agent, allowing him to leave Bavaria for around 100 million. These figures may initially seem high, but considering that the attacking midfielder will be just 25 or 26 years old at that time, they seem more than fair for someone who is set to be one of the great figures in the world of football. Meanwhile, at Barça, they will not take their eyes off him.
