The future of Joao Felix is one of the most important points in the transfer market for Atlético de Madrid, but it is also one for FC Barcelona. Atlético are still trying to find out if the money they would receive for the Portuguese could unblock some of the operations they currently have open, while the Catalans are keeping him as a 'low cost' alternative in the face of the doubts generated by Nico Williams.
That is why the Portuguese player is keeping an eye on what happens in Barcelona, but the intention of the Madrid team is not precisely to allow another loan. Atlético wants a sale, understanding that the situation at the Metropolitano is already unsustainable, something that Benfica has considered again after a few days in which that option had cooled off.
Joao Seems to direct again to Portugal
And this Wednesday, Portugal claims that the Lisbon team has resumed talks with Atlético to try to 'repatriate' Joao Félix, also explaining that the Aston Villa alternative has lost ground. That would keep Barça in the background, but now having Benfica again as the big favourite to keep the winger.
'Record' points out that Benfica insists on Félix, highlighting that the Lisbon 'eagles' have contacted Atlético de Madrid again with the aim of closing the operation, and would have a certain advantage since it would be a permanent transfer. In this context, Félix has integrated with the rest of the squad under the orders of Cholo Simeone and participates in training at the same pace as the rest, despite the fact that he clearly does not count for the Argentine.
An amount of around 30 million euros for half of the transfer of the Portuguese international would be the formula to bring Joao Felix back to Portugal, remembering that Benfica withdrew from negotiations a few weeks ago after not wanting to go beyond 20 million. Barça, for their part, could be left without an interesting player to try to reinforce their squad if the arrival of Nico Williams fails, although it is clear that the Catalans are not willing to pay a transfer fee for Joao this summer.
