Barça dreams of Isak, but needs to sell a star to make it possible.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

In the offices of FC Barcelona, there is no rest. The sports management is tirelessly working on consolidating the current squad of Hansi Flick, 'securing' the pillars of the project with their renewals (Pedri, Gavi, Cubarsí...) and doing their homework to secure the other stars of the team (Raphina, Koundé, Lamine Yamal...), in addition to seeking solutions for the situations of Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo, whose contracts remain provisional.

The priority of the entity is to ensure continuity for the current project and, once all these matters are resolved, they will put all their efforts into the transfer market, where they are very clear about which positions need reinforcement and their main targets. The focus is on the forward line, where there is absolute consensus that Alexander Isak would be the ideal signing to make the definitive leap to the top of the football world.

Joan Laporta is one of the biggest advocates for the Swede in the Catalan city, to the point of being willing to make a considerable financial effort to secure his arrival at Spotify Camp Nou if the conditions are favorable for the club. However, the president is not alone in his interest in the Nordic player, as Deco also sees him as a player born to wear the blaugrana jersey.

Barça would have Isak's approval

At 25 years old, the Nordic has fully exploded in the Premier League defending the colors of Newcastle. Under the orders of Eddie Howe, the striker has accumulated 23 goals and 5 assists in the 33 matches he has played this season and has proven to be more than ready for the big challenges. At Can Barça, he is very much liked, among other reasons, for his versatility, being capable of playing at the highest level both in the center of the attack and on the wing.

The player, for his part, would welcome a return to LaLiga, where he already shone in the ranks of Real Sociedad before moving to England. According to 'SPORT', at the end of last year, there was what has so far been the only meeting between his agent and the Catalan club, represented by Deco and Bojan Krkic. Although the meeting served only as a first contact, the feelings were very positive on both sides.

The culés expressed their desire to incorporate Isak into Flick's squad, while the other side also conveyed the Swede's eagerness to join the culé project, although not much more could be advanced due to the financial difficulties presented in the operation. However, the sports director has committed to working to achieve the necessary conditions to face his signing.

The formula that could unlock Isak's signing

In this sense, the main obstacle that Barça must overcome is not to assume a significant transfer fee, as the return to the 1:1 rule allows them to move freely in the market, but for LaLiga to accept the registration of Isak's contract, which would be one of the most important in the team. The player has a contract until 2028, but he would be attracted by the possibility of leaving St. James' Park if it is to join an ambitious project like Flick's.

The Magpies, meanwhile, would not put many obstacles to let him go as long as a staggering amount is paid for his services, which would range between 150 and 180 million euros. Therefore, the blaugranas are analyzing formulas to clear the way for the Nordic player, and the only one that could achieve this, as of today, is the sale of an important player from the squad, with Ronald Araujo being the main candidate, although there are also other options.

Thus, Deco continues to work to finish all pending tasks, but Isak's name remains on the table of the sports management and Joan Laporta. His signing would be a dream for Barça, where they are waiting for the right moment to ask for a gesture that allows them to set the machinery in motion and bring his signing closer. The 'saga' could heat up in the coming months.
