Desperate times call for desperate measures. The Manchester City is experiencing an unprecedented results crisis since Pep Guardiola took over the Etihad Stadium bench, and in light of the lack of answers on the pitch, the 'skyblue' offices have rolled up their sleeves to make a radical turnaround in the situation.

In this regard, 'The Times' has reported that the Mancunians have decided to hire a replacement for Rodri in the winter transfer market. Given the delicate present of the team, the 'citizen' board is willing to go all in, and three names are reportedly highlighted in red.

The first of them, although not specifically to cover the position of the Ballon d'Or, is Florian Wirtz. The German is the big dream of the Mancunian team for the future, and with the tough competition looming for his signing (Bayern, Barça, and Madrid are after him), the 'skyblues' want to make a move and would not spare expenses when it comes to making his operation happen in January.

The Possible Replacement for Rodri

Not satisfied with the German star, City would look for a player capable of filling Rodri's shoes in the midfield, and Martin Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes would be Guardiola's chosen ones. Both players have been on the institution's radar for some time, but given the team's needs, they would go all out to sign one of them in the upcoming winter window.

Both players are among the most valued in their position, and their transfer would not be cheap, as it seems difficult for both Real Sociedad and Newcastle to part with their two stars mid-season. Despite this, the 'citizen' team will seek to convince them with a hefty offer, so some busy weeks are ahead.
