FC Barcelona has shown great interest in exploring its options to sign Rayan Vitor, Vasco de Gama's 'jewel'. However, it is not the only club that is following in the forward's footsteps
It's no secret that at FC Barcelona there is currently a new policy being implemented regarding signings, which focuses heavily on acquiring young players who have not yet 'exploded', but whose potential suggests that, after polishing them in the reserve team, they can reach a 'top' player status. This way, Barça ensures having a top-level asset in the future at a financially lower price than if they had to buy them already established as a star player.
Under this premise, a new name emerges: Rayan Vitor, an 18-year-old right winger currently playing for Vasco da Gama. Despite his young age, this season he has emerged as an interesting alternative in the offensive front of the 'Cruzmaltino' team, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 30 matches played (1,228 minutes), also demonstrating great versatility by playing in various attacking positions.
FC Barcelona closely monitoring Rayan Vitor
FC Barcelona, through Deco, the club's sporting director, seems to have him well-scouted and holds very positive sports references about him. In this sense, Rayan Vítor has proven to be a physically imposing forward, standing at 1.86 meters, making him powerful and difficult to dispossess of the ball.
Despite his stature, he is technically agile and skilled, being lethal with his finishes in the box and possessing a notable left-footed shot. Furthermore, he has shown good vision and the ability to link up with his teammates, all qualities that make him a highly complete forward with a seemingly limitless potential.
In this context, it is worth noting that Barcelona's interest in Rayan Vitor is not a recent matter. So much so that back in 2022, it was reported that the Catalan club made an offer to Vasco da Gama to secure his services. However, this proposal was rejected by the 'Cruzmaltino' team as they deemed it economically insufficient, with the amount hovering around one million euros.
Olympique de Lyon could beat Barça in the 'race' for Rayan
Now, there is a factor in this matter that complicates FC Barcelona's interest in Rayan Vitor: the desire of other teams to sign the Brazilian forward, whom some compare to Adriano 'The Emperor'. There even seems to be a French team that is quite advanced in the 'race' for the striker.
According to the newspaper 'SPORT', Olympique de Lyon has reportedly presented an offer of 14 million euros to secure the services of Rayan Vitor. This proposal seems to have a good chance of being successful, thanks in part to a specific individual, John Textor, majority shareholder of the Lyon team who also has interests in Botafogo, a Brazilian club with which Vasco da Gama apparently has a debt. This transaction could help settle that debt while also providing a significant profit to the 'Gigante de Colina'.
With this in mind, it will be interesting to see how this negotiation unfolds, as Barcelona could lose a player they hold in high regard, despite being a right winger, a position in which the Catalan club already has prominent assets like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. However, the Barcelona team viewed Rayan Vitor more as a player whose qualities could earn him a spot as a center forward, a position the Barcelona team is looking to reinforce.
