The FC Barcelona is evaluating several options in the transfer market to strengthen the right-back position. Despite having Jules Koundé, who is establishing himself as one of the best in that position, the Frenchman is not a natural in that role. Therefore, Barça is not ruling out the possibility of signing a top-notch right-back who is native to that position to expand the options in the team.

One of the names recently linked to the Catalan club to reinforce that side is Reece James, a 24-year-old right-back from London. According to the website 'Football Transfers,' it has been mentioned that he could change clubs next summer, with Barcelona and SL Benfica in Portugal being possible destinations.

It has been suggested that this potential move is due to the need for a warmer climate to help mitigate the recurring injuries that Reece James has been experiencing for a while now. Private physiotherapists have recommended a milder climate in Southern Europe, such as in Spain and Portugal, which could be beneficial for his long-term recovery. It is also argued that the possibly less intense pace of LaLiga EA Sports or the Primeira Liga would reduce the risk of injuries for the Londoner.

Reece James Unwilling to Leave Chelsea

On the other hand, according to the website 'GIVEMESPORT,' it is said that Reece James prefers to stay at Chelsea, focusing on returning in full form to join the 'Blues' dynamic. It should be noted that the right-back has not played an official match for the London club since May 15.

Although Chelsea is awaiting the return of their first-choice right-back, there doesn't seem to be a rush to bring him back, as they currently have Malo Gusto putting in stellar performances as the starting right-back and increasingly solidifying his position. Therefore, the possibility that Stamford Bridge considers his departure next summer to reduce their wage bill is not ruled out.

Now, although Reece James appears content at Chelsea and his main focus is to compete for a spot in the team, with a current market value of €35 million and a contract until 2028, the London club would have a strong negotiating position. It remains to be seen if Barça would be willing to make an offer for a player who, if able to stay injury-free, could be a top acquisition. However, the lack of continuity due to his recent physical setbacks remains a concern.
