Celta de Vigo could be in a position to complete the payment of 50% of the economic rights that FC Barcelona has over Óscar Mingueza. How much would this mean in millions for the culé team? We tell you at FCBN

Calendar of FC Barcelona

If there is a name that has become one of the big surprises of the 2024/25 season in LaLiga EA Sports, that is Óscar Mingueza. Why? The player from Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, after playing four matches in the local tournament, has scored two goals and provided three assists, becoming a key element in the scheme of Celta de Vigo's coach, Claudio Giráldez.

The Barcelona youth academy product has taken on a new role, away from the defense, acting more as a right-wing midfielder. This position has allowed him to get into attacking positions more frequently and be decisive for his team's attacking aspirations.

Now, Mingueza's outstanding performances have caught the eye, so much so that he has been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the matches against Serbia (0-0) and Switzerland (1-4) during the September FIFA break. Although he did not get on the field, it is clear that he is once again being considered for the Spanish national team. It should be noted that the Vigo team's '3' has only previously played one match for the national team, in a friendly against Lithuania (4-0) on June 8, 2021, where he played the full 90 minutes.

Furthermore, Mingueza's notable growth seems to have sparked interest from FC Barcelona, which could benefit in multiple ways from the player. The Barcelona team could see him as a cost-effective option to strengthen their squad in the future, thanks to a buy-back option that is around nine or ten million euros.

The new way Barcelona could make a few million from Mingueza

Additionally, Barcelona has another way to profit from Mingueza. In the sales agreement with Celta de Vigo in 2022, where the player moved to the Galician team at no cost, Barcelona secured 50% of the player's economic rights. This means that the Catalan team would receive half of any amount that Celta de Vigo obtains from the future sale of the defender.

At this point, it is rumored that Mingueza's sale value could reach 20 million euros, matching his release clause. In this scenario, Barcelona should be receiving around 10 million euros. However, as suggested in 'Relevo', Celta de Vigo is considering their options to buy the 50% of economic rights that Barcelona holds over the Barcelona youth product.

Under this premise, they would present an apparently lower offer, which would be around six million euros. An offer that will need to be considered to determine if the Barcelona team is willing to entertain it, especially in a time when any economic income is crucial for the club.
