FC Barcelona, given the complexities that a signing like that of Viktor Gyökeres represents, would be exploring another Swedish option to reinforce the forward line. What will it be?
The sports management of FC Barcelona seems to be engaged in a significant debate regarding who should be the ideal successor to the 36-year-old center forward, Robert Lewandowski. Despite 'Lewy' being in his best form since he started wearing the blue and garnet jersey, and still having one more year as a player for Barça, it is evident that finding a top-level alternative is necessary for the transition to be as optimal as possible.
Initially, Barcelona's plans seem to be focused on the signing of the relentless 26-year-old Swedish forward, Viktor Gyökeres, who currently plays for Sporting Club de Portugal and has stood out as one of the top scorers of the 2024-25 season, with 24 goals so far. It is rumored that he would be willing to leave the Portuguese team in the upcoming summer transfer window for a sum ranging around 70 to 80 million euros.
FC Barcelona Shows Interest in Alexander Isak Again
However, reports from England suggest that another name is gaining relevance in FC Barcelona's agenda to strengthen the forward line, and it's another Swedish 'killer.' According to 'Sun Sport,' Barça would be reconsidering the 25-year-old forward from Newcastle United, Alexander Isak.
The mentioned source implies that Barcelona is preparing a significant offer to sign Alexander Isak, whose release clause seems to be set between 110 and 120 million euros. This potential move for the Swede is being considered due to the difficulties in the Viktor Gyökeres transfer, who seemingly is set to join the Premier League, with Manchester United as the favorite, given that the team is now managed by Rubén Amorin, who was previously Gyökeres's coach at Sporting.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona will ultimately opt for the acquisition of Alexander Isak. The Solna native has scored five goals and provided two assists so far in the 2024-25 season, numbers that might seem low for a striker, but considering his current form, it is expected that these figures will improve. Additionally, it is important to note that other clubs are interested in the player, such as Arsenal, which considers him one of their priorities for the year 2025.
