FC Barcelona were apparently interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle. However, the cost of his transfer would be much higher than what Barça would be in a position to pay

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona, despite Robert Lewandowski showcasing a remarkable form in terms of goal-scoring, tallying 17 goals in 15 matches and likely marking one of the best starts to a season in his extensive professional career, is clear that, due to generational change, it must start considering options to strengthen the position for the future. Additionally, the impending end of the contract of the Polish player with the Culé entity is an imminent reality.

Initially, the names that seem to be favored are those of Erling Haaland from Manchester City and Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Club de Portugal. However, these potential transfers present a significant economic challenge, as the Nordic strikers, being among the best in the world, might have a price tag that exceeds what Barcelona would be willing to pay for a piece to bolster its offensive line.

In light of this, it's not surprising that Barcelona is considering various alternatives to strengthen its attack. It has been mentioned that one of them is Newcastle's striker, Alexander Isak, a player who has already had experience in LaLiga EA Sports with Real Sociedad and who is currently open to a change, showing willingness to leave the Magpies for a top-level team that can aspire to greater professional achievements and thus advance his career.

In this context, Barcelona has been evaluating the situation of the Swedish forward. Although Alexander Isak is currently not having the best goal-scoring records, with just four goals and one assist in 10 matches played, in previous seasons he has proven to be a forward who usually performs very well. For the right price, he could be an option to consider for the Blaugrana team, which would compete with other top Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

The price tag set by Newcastle for Alexander Isak

However, the signing of Alexander Isak for Barcelona could be challenging, mainly due to economic reasons. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Newcastle has valued the Swede in a range between 110 and 120 million euros, a truly prohibitive amount for the Culé team and likely for many other clubs.

This high cost could deter Barcelona's interest in the forward, as his market value, according to 'Transfermarkt,' is 75 million euros. This could be a factor that distances the Barcelona team from the possible signing of Alexander Isak, especially because if Barça had such a high amount to strengthen its offense, they would probably opt for one of the previously mentioned names that currently enjoy greater favoritism and sporting level.
