Frenkie de Jong would be interesting to Liverpool, a team that would have prepared an offer to sign the Dutch
Frenkie de Jong is gradually starting to gain prominence in Hansi Flick's scheme. The Arkel native, through good performances, has managed to place his name in the conversation for a spot in the double pivot proposed by the German coach in his regular lineup, initially seemingly dominated by Marc Casadó, whose breakthrough into the first team made it seem like he could be one of the untouchables of the German coach.
Now, despite the increased prominence of Frenkie de Jong at FC Barcelona during the 2024-25 season, this does not mean that the former Ajax player is not still the subject of rumors about a possible departure from the Blaugrana club. This issue remains relevant and is based on three main reasons: the market value of the Dutchman (€45 million according to Transfermarkt), the interested teams looking to sign him, and the undeniable fact that his contract renewal with the Catalan team (ending on June 30, 2026) has not yet been finalized.
Liverpool reportedly preparing an offer to try to sign Frenkie de Jong
At this point, one of the clubs interested in acquiring the services of Frenkie de Jong is Liverpool, who apparently has a proposal planned to add the '21' to their squad. As reported by the media outlet 'Fichajes.net,' the 'Reds' are considering making an initial offer of €35 million to acquire the Dutch midfielder.
However, the aforementioned source asserts that, so far, the proposal does not meet FC Barcelona's requirements to let Frenkie de Jong leave.
It remains to be seen how this case unfolds, as at present, the situation of Frenkie de Jong at FC Barcelona is filled with uncertainty. Although it seems unlikely that the Catalan team would accept a low offer for a 'top' player like the Dutchman, if his renewal is not resolved, an increasingly plausible scenario, it would not be surprising if the Barcelona side decided to accept an offer below the expected value for the Willem II academy graduate, who is also of great interest in Saudi Arabia, to avoid losing him as a free agent in 2026.
