FC Barcelona could say goodbye to a player that they had not considered in this transfer market. The player does not seem to be one of Hansi Flick's favourites, so the door is open for a transfer

Calendar of FC Barcelona

An unexpected transfer could be coming to FC Barcelona before August 30th. We are talking about Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who arrived in Barcelona two seasons ago from Chelsea. Hansi Flick does not have him as one of his favourites, so his departure could be a key piece for the Blaugrana board to open up salary space.

The Dane arrived at the Blaugrana club on a free transfer, so he would generate a net profit if he were sold. This would allow Barça to register Dani Olmo, which is the main priority this week. The Spaniard, who arrived in Barcelona a few days ago, is eager to make his debut in La Liga against Athletic Club on August 24th, because in the first matchday he did not play Flick considering that "he was not in condition".

Christensen: An unexpected but necessary farewell

In his first season as a Barça player, Christensen was one of Xavi Hernández's key figures in winning the LaLiga title as a centre-back and last season he alternated this position with that of a central midfielder. With Olmo ready to take his place in the starting eleven, the Dane would not have a place to develop his game, so he would not look down on saying goodbye.

Let's remember that the player has experience in the Bundesliga, where he played with Borussia Mönchengladbach for two seasons, and in the Premier League, in which he has played in two stages with Chelsea. He also played in the Euro 2024 with Denmark and was a starter, so he would not be a bad reinforcement for a team that wants to count on his services. Although Ronald Araújo's injury could be enough to retain him, at least until the winter transfer market.

At the moment, the Blaugrana club deny any intention of transferring him, but the financial situation could lead Deco to change his plans. The same happened with Ilkay Gündogan, who is close to returning to Manchester City, after an exit was not considered. The next few days will be key to defining Christensen's future at the team, but everything indicates that a farewell is approaching.
