Since Xavi Hernández stopped being the coach of FC Barcelona, there has been much speculation about what the new coaching adventure for the man from Terrassa could be. This topic seems to be shrouded in quite a bit of uncertainty, as the Terrassa native has not given any hints about his future, but rather has shown a certain comfort with the life he is currently living during his sabbatical period.

However, beyond this apparent comfort in Xavi Hernández's life, the fact remains that he could return to coaching at any moment. The question still remains: what will be his next professional destination? Well, the Qatari media outlet 'Al Raya' has decided to put forward a possible new path that could be opening up for the Terrassa native to return to the professional sphere.

Qatar is exploring the option of making Xavi Hernández its national team coach

According to the mentioned source, Xavi Hernández could soon become the national team coach of Qatar. It is worth remembering that the man from Terrassa is highly regarded in the Middle Eastern country, as he began his coaching journey there in the 2018-19 season, when he took the reins of Al Sadd, where he spent two and a half years (96 matches) and won seven titles: a League title (2021), two Emir Cups (2020, 2021), two Prince Cups (2020, 2021), a Super Cup (2019), and a League Cup (2020).

Furthermore, it is also suggested from Qatar that, despite there being nothing definitive regarding Xavi Hernández's connection to the Qatari national team, the fact that the Terrassa native is apparently in the nation indicates that discussions between both parties could be underway so that sooner rather than later, the former FC Barcelona coach could become the successor to Tintín Márquez, who has held the position since December 2023, succeeding Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, who was removed from his position on December 6, 2023.

Now, if this goes beyond mere speculation and Xavi Hernández becomes the national team coach of Qatar, it would be his first experience as the coach of a national team, thus breaking his sabbatical year, which he expressed a desire to take after a demanding period at FC Barcelona, where he accumulated: 143 matches, 91 victories, 23 draws, and 29 defeats, winning a League title (2022-23) and a Spanish Super Cup (2023).
