The potential signing of Marcus Rashford by FC Barcelona continues to generate divided opinions within the culé environment. For Rivaldo, the azulgrana team should go for the English winger
FC Barcelona is keeping the possibility of signing Marcus Rashford open in January. Although the winger returned to training with Manchester United this week and his high salary complicates his arrival in Catalonia, there are several authoritative voices in the football world that support the arrival of the 27-year-old forward to Barça. The latest to give the 'ok' to the Englishman was Rivaldo, one of the azulgrana legends always attentive to the current affairs of the first team.
"A signing like Rashford can only be positive because it helps the coach build a better team and gives him more options to choose from on the field," argued the Brazilian legend at a promotional event for 'Betfair'. In that sense, the former forward believes that the English international would undoubtedly have a place in the team managed by Hansi Flick.
"Besides being a great player, Barcelona has a busy schedule ahead and that would help him get opportunities. Rashford surely knows that," added Rivaldo. For Marcus, besides Barcelona, another interesting option is the Turkish Besiktas, where he could reunite with one of his coaches in Manchester: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rivaldo weighs in on Barça's chances in LaLiga
On another note, the former azulgrana '10' shared his thoughts on Barça's chances of winning LaLiga. For Rivaldo, Flick must take advantage of these weeks to seek a comeback, as the schedule will provide a breather without having to play the Champions League playoffs. "The team has the calmness to better plan what remains of the season. Being second in the Champions League group stage and having the calmness of qualification gives them more margin," he explained.
In that sense, the Brazilian downplayed the importance of refereeing complaints, taking a stance against VAR by stating that errors "have always existed and will continue to occur," since VAR, while it often helps, complicates decision-making at times. Complaints are normal. When the referee or VAR makes a mistake, or there is a dubious play, the benefited team will never say anything, while the other will always complain," pointed out the culé legend.
