FC Barcelona remains attentive to the great moment of Francisco Trincao at Sporting CP. The Portuguese winger could still bring more money into the club's coffers next summer
Francisco Trincao is having his best season in Europe with Sporting CP in his second year with the Lisbon team. The 25-year-old winger has 9 goals and 13 assists in 39 matches, being the player with the most minutes on the team (3,378') and the standout figure of the squad alongside Viktor Gyökeres. Despite the great contributions from the Portuguese and the Swede, the team continues to plummet in their league after failing to qualify for the Champions playoffs.
Beyond that, Trincao continues to do his thing: distributing play at his feet, delivering notable performances in each round of the Primeira Liga with the 'verdiblanco' team. On Sunday, he provided his thirteenth assist of the season in the draw against AVS and, the previous weekend, he had scored against Arouca, although both matches ended in draws (2-2).
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona is rubbing its hands with the great moment of a player who, despite his unsuccessful stint in Catalunya, could bring very good news to the culés in the next market. After a less productive loan at Wolverhampton, the player from Viana do Castelo has regained the joy and magic that characterized him during his time at Braga since his return to Portugal.
Barça can continue to benefit from Trincao's explosion
Indeed, while his transfer was closed for a low amount in 2023 (7 million euros), considering the almost 31 'kilos' that the azulgrana paid for him in 2020, Barça reserved 50% of a future sale. Trincao's value already reaches 27 million on Transfermarkt and, looking ahead to next summer, he could leave Sporting for a figure close to 30M € as his contract expires in 2026 and, for now, he has not defined whether he will renew with the 'lions' of Lisbon.
The Portuguese international was already mentioned as a possible reinforcement for Milan in January, although the option faded due to Sporting's high financial aspirations. The 'rossoneri' opted for the loan of Joao Félix, but for the summer, the planning of those from San Siro could be very different if, ultimately, the departure of Rafael Leao to FC Barcelona or another European giant materializes.
