Trincão in the sights of the Premier League: Barça attentive to his percentage

After his lackluster stint at FC Barcelona in the 2020-21 season, the Portuguese Francisco Trincão seems to have found his best level of play since arriving at Sporting Club de Portugal. At the same time, he is also leaving great flashes of his football with the Portuguese national team, which he helped secure a ticket to the 'semis' of the Nations League, scoring a brace against Denmark (5-2).

The 25-year-old forward joined the blaugrana team in the 2020-21 season for €31 million, signing a contract until 2025 with a release clause of €500 million, but in his only season as a culé, he played 1,309 minutes in 42 matches. During that period, Trincão managed to score only three goals. Looking ahead to the 2022-23 season, after a loan to Wolverhampton, he was loaned to Sporting CP, who later bought 50% of his federative rights for €7 million.

How much would FC Barcelona receive if Sporting sells Trincão?

The blaugrana team did not relinquish all control over the winger from Viana do Castelo, as they retained the other 50% of the player's rights to potentially make money later. Now, with the 'Lions', Trincão has a contract until 2027 with a release clause of €80 million, and Premier League teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle are closely monitoring the forward's development, according to the Portuguese newspaper 'Record'.

FC Barcelona,  for its part, also has a buyback option ranging between €20 and €25 million. However, it is believed that the Catalan team will not initiate a move to bring Trincão back to the City of Barcelona.

What the culé team hopes for, so far, is to recover in cash what the departure of the winger from the Lisbon team leaves. That is, if any team pays the release clause of '17', €40 million 'kilos' would enter the Barça coffers. While it is not ruled out that his transfer could be made through a negotiable price, which has been speculated to be between €35 and €40 million, in which case the culés could be receiving between €17.5 and €20 million for the sale of Trincão.

Sporting CP works on renewing Trincão

From England, they are watching the player's situation with total attention, while the Lisbon team desperately seeks to renew him, intending not to let go of one of their stars, who in 43 matches (3,724 minutes) has 9 goals and 15 assists. The Portuguese team also believes that Viktor Gyökeres will leave at the end of the current season and fears losing their two top attacking references.
