Manchester United and Aston Villa are reportedly bidding for a significant fee to sign Fermin Lopez. Both clubs are reportedly offering him a leading role in their teams
Fermin Lopez was the protagonist of one of the best pieces of news received by FC Barcelona during this international break. The Andalusian has now fully recovered from his last muscle injury, which kept him out for a month, and is already training with the group, so it is expected that he will be available to Hansi Flick from next October 20, when the Catalans host Sevilla in Montjuïc.
The midfielder now aims to show that his 'explosion' at the Olympic Games was not a one-off summer thing and that he really is one of the most important pieces of the team for the future. So far this season, Lopez has barely played 57 minutes spread over 3 games, since injuries have prevented him from helping the Catalans on the pitch. However, once he has recovered, his performances could be very useful for Barça throughout the course.
The Premier League wants to take advantage of Barça's 'overbooking' of midfielders
Despite this, the competition in the Barça midfield will be fierce, since in addition to Fermín, the German has Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo, Gavi, Pedri, Marc Casadó, Pablo Torre, and even Eric García as effective for the position. In total, 8 players for 3 positions, a situation that could leave the player from El Campillo with a residual role in the culé team.
For this reason, 'El Nacional.cat' has reported that the Premier League would like to take advantage of this situation to achieve the landing of the Blaugrana '16' in England. The first interested club would be Manchester United, who already tried to sign him last summer and received a refusal from Barça. In the same way, Aston Villa would also be after him, with Unai Emery as the main supporter of the player in the institution.
Both teams are willing to make a significant effort to secure Fermín's contract, and would offer a figure of more than 40 million euros to convince the Catalans to transfer him. Although, a priori, Barcelona does not intend to part with the player, if he does not end up getting the expected minutes, they could consider the proposals sent from England, which would mean a significant income for the club's coffers.
