In FC Barcelona, despite the financial situation not appearing to be the most comfortable and apparently ruling out the signing of a midfielder for this summer, possible options to reinforce the midfield keep emerging. Some of them, by their nature, become particularly unexpected.

In this context, the name of Danilo Pereira emerges, a 32-year-old Portuguese midfielder currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain, with a contract until 2025. It is worth noting that with the Parisians, in the recently concluded 2023/24 period, he primarily played as a defender, participating in 28 out of the 34 matches he played in that position this season.

Is Danilo Pereira a real option to strengthen FC Barcelona's midfield?

Now, as mentioned on the 'Jijantes' podcast on Twitch, hosted by journalist Gerard Romero, the former Marítimo player was proposed to FC Barcelona as an option to reinforce their midfield. This offer is said to have been presented by the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, who has a very good relationship with the Blaugrana institution and represents some Culés such as Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Ansu Fati.

In this scenario, Danilo Pereira's possible departure from the French team could be a reality for several reasons. The Portuguese player's contract ends next summer, and since a renewal is not foreseen, possibly due to his age (32 years) and the fact that he doesn't seem to fit into Luis Enrique's sporting plans at the Parisian club, his departure could be under consideration during this summer transfer window to gain some benefit from it, considering that the reigning Ligue 1 champions invested around 16 million euros in 2021 to secure his services from Porto.

However, currently, there is no clear information on whether Barcelona would be interested in finalizing this operation. The Barcelona team may not be willing to incorporate a player who, although could be a 'low-cost' option, with an approximate market value of 8 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt' and a moderate salary (1.76 million euros per season according to 'Capology'), may not be the most convincing alternative, given that the Blaugrana has shown a commitment to young players to reinforce the midfield and has various alternatives in that position, in addition to having a deep bench in defense. Therefore, the arrival of the Portuguese may not entirely fit into the club's current strategy.
