Viktor Gyökeres is one of the strikers of the moment. The Swedish striker continues to prove himself to be a 'relentless force' in front of the opposing goal, as evidenced by his latest 'poker' against Azerbaijan in the Nations League. His impressive scoring figures (32 goals in the 24/25 season) have put him on the radar of the big clubs in Europe, with FC Barcelona being one of the most interested in signing him.

The Blaugrana have begun the search for a short or medium-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski in the centre of the forward line, and the Sporting CP player appears to be one of the favourites for the Blaugrana club. However, the footballer's mentor, Anders Limpar, has revealed what the ideal destination for Gyökeres would be.

Gyökeres' future could be in the Premier League

In an interview with 'Football Direkt', the former Swedish player said that "I know him (Gyökeres) well because I was a kind of mentor for him when he played at Brommapojkarna. I talked a lot with him about his professional life. He is a hard-working striker who scores a lot of goals," and then stated that Viktor already sits at the same table as the continent's top scorers

"Haaland has been the best in Europe for many years. Of course you have these guns like Lewandowski, Kane and Salah. And Gyokeres is there now, among the world stars. He is the kind of player who can almost choose which club he wants to go to," he added.

Precisely, regarding the striker's future, Limpar said that Viktor should head to England. "We have to remember that the Portuguese championship is worse than the Premier League, but when Manchester City went to play in Lisbon he scored a hat-trick, so he is fully capable of scoring goals in England," he said.

"I think Gyökeres' next step is to play in the Premier League and he will be able to choose which club he wants to play for," he concluded. Clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are on the trail of the goalscorer, so at Can Barça they are preparing to face tough competition for the Swede's contract.
