Viktor Gyökeres has rejected an offer from Manchester United and will remain at Sporting CP until June. Barça is a viable option for the Swede
The Manchester United has received its first major setback of the winter transfer market. The 'red devils' were willing to pay the 100 million euros release clause of Viktor Gyökeres this very January, but the forward has turned down the offer from the Mancunians despite his good relationship with Rúben Amorim, who would have specifically requested his signing.
According to 'SPORT', the Swede will finish the season at Sporting CP and will then decide his future, with FC Barcelona being one of the clubs with the highest chances in the race. The sporting director of the blue and maroon entity, Deco, maintains a great relationship with the management of the Lisbon club, and a couple of months ago he would have inquired about the details of a deal that would not at all displease the player.
The key for Barça to lower the price of the operation
From the offices of José Alvalade, they would have assured Gyökeres that they would let him leave for a price close to 60 million euros, but the Catalans could use 40% of a future sale of Trincao to lower that amount. For now, the interest from the Catalans has not been revealed, although it could intensify in the coming months.
Despite the fact that Robert Lewandowski is getting closer to renewing for another season, at Can Barça they have started the search for his replacement in the attack since the Pole will turn 37 next summer. The blue and maroon team aims to strengthen itself with a top-level forward, and the star of Sporting CP is gaining more and more ground in the Catalan city.
