Vitor Roque's time at FC Barcelona has not been what was expected. The Brazilian striker hoped to have more of a role on the tour of the United States, but despite the team's offensive shortcomings, Hansi Flick has not bet too much on him, leading him to consider his future in the team.
The 19-year-old player was very keen to reverse his sporting situation at Barça, although after the first weeks of pre-season the option of letting him go in this summer market has been strengthened because he will not have space in the project. The player's agent will meet with the Barça board in the next few hours or days to find out the intentions that the club has and thus make the best decision for all parties, so it is clear that he is more out than in.
Vitor Roque's situation has been really strange. He arrived in Barcelona in January after an investment of more than 30 million euros, but it was quite difficult for him to adapt to Xavi Hernández's team, who condemned him to the bench. The former Barça coach asked for his departure when his continuity was being discussed, but the arrival of Flick put a pause on the decision about his future. The German coach wanted to see him in the first weeks of training, although he seems to have already decided that he will not continue at the club.
Barcelona want to sell Roque
Both the German and the Barça board agree that the young striker is a step below the other attackers and the emergence of Pau Vitor has finished condemning him. The club's idea is not to register him to save salary margin and look for an agreed exit. In fact, Barcelona is willing to transfer him this summer if there is a proposal that satisfies all parties and the investment made in January can be recovered.
The first offer came through Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal. First, they proposed a loan with an option to buy, which was rejected, and then they opted for a transfer to convince the Blaugrana club. However, the player rejected the adventure because he wants to stay playing in Europe and there are already several teams from the old continent interested in his loan. Lazio, Betis and Porto have been mentioned, but none have made a concrete offer and the decision has to be agreed between all parties. However, what is totally ruled out is the return of Roque to Brazil. Therefore, either things change a lot or the player will say goodbye before August 30.
