The transfer of Vitor Roque to Palmeiras for €25.5M generates excellent financial benefits for FC Barcelona. Now, the club has enough 'Fair Play' to finalize the renewal of Lamine Yamal

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona finalized the transfer of Vitor Roque to Palmeiras for €25.5 million fixed plus an additional €5M in variables. The azulgrana team resolved the termination of the Brazilian forward's loan to Real Betis to facilitate his arrival at the Paulista team, thus closing a very beneficial operation for the club's finances. Beyond recovering their initial investment for 'Tigrinho', the club will also use the profits to secure the future of their new star: Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona still had to pay Athletico Paranaense €23.5 of the €31 million fixed that Roque's transfer cost, an amount that will be covered thanks to the money paid by Palmeiras. This balances the accounts to generate enough 'Fair Play' to finalize Lamine's new contract, which had been verbally agreed upon after his last renewal in 2023 for three seasons, the maximum allowed for underage players.

Yamal will renew for five seasons, until June 2030, with a release clause of €1 billion and an initial salary rising to around €7-8 million. This season, the player from Mataró only earned around €1.7M net, although his market value already reaches €180M. Clubs like Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to offer up to €200 million to sign him with a mega contract, but the academy player is clear about his desire to make history with the azulgrana jersey.

Two more good news for Barça from the transfer of Vitor Roque

In addition to the contract extension of '19', Barça will also use the profits from Vitor Roque's transfer to unlock the renewal of Iñigo Martínez. The Basque player already has everything agreed with the club to stay for at least one more season in Catalonia, but LaLiga had blocked the operation due to 'Fair Play' issues.

The other good news related to the sale of 'Tigrinho' involves getting rid of the payment of his €31M in variables. Barcelona was supposed to pay an extra €5 million for each season (he signed for 5 years) in which the Brazilian played at least 50% of the official matches, along with another €5M related to the player's appearance among the three finalists for FIFA The Best. Additionally, there was an extra million if the forward won the Ballon d'Or. The player from Timóteo only played 16 matches with the azulgrana jersey in 2024, two of them as a starter (he scored a couple of goals), so none of the stipulated variables were met.
