Christensen is preparing to return and help Barça in the final stretch of the season

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Andreas Christensen hopes to reappear with FC Barcelona in April to lend a hand to the team in the final stretch of the 2024-25 season for the international with Denmark. The '15' only played 20 minutes in the opening match of LaLiga against Valencia (1-2) just before suffering a tendinopathy that kept him out for the entire first half of the season. Initially, he should receive medical clearance in the coming days.

The Dane has 4 goals and 3 assists in 75 official matches with the club, divided into 54 league matches, 10 Champions League matches, 5 Cup matches, 4 Supercup matches, and a couple of Europa League matches (in his first season). The center-back acknowledged the mistake of having preferred to play through pain for much of last season and the Eurocup with his national team, but now it seems he has left his discomfort behind.

The plan for Barça with Christensen looking towards the next transfer market

After undergoing surgery to address his Achilles tendon issues, he suffered a new injury in the soleus of his right leg this year. Looking towards the final stretch of the season, Hansi Flick hopes to have Andreas to lend a hand in defense and, even, in midfield if necessary, as Marc Casadó will be out at least until mid-May.

Christensen already alternated the pivot position with that of center-back last season and, at Chelsea, he also proved capable of playing as a libero in a three-man line that yielded excellent results for Thomas Tuchel with the 'blue' team. For their part, the Barça management is also betting on giving the Lillerod native playing time in the final stretch of the 24-25 season, considering their options to cash in on the 28-year-old defender.

The '15' has one year left on his contract, but he will likely be put up for sale, especially if Barça ultimately decides to sign Jonathan Tah. The Dane arrived on a free transfer in 2022, so a transfer in the range of 12-15 million euros would undoubtedly satisfy the club. Christensen, for his part, is clear about the need to seek a new team, although he feels very comfortable living in Barcelona. In any case, there will be plenty of time in the summer to wait for offers, without ruling out the possibility of renewing with the culés.
