Rashford, a possible reinforcement for Barça: United is willing to negotiate
Marcus Rashford, forward for Manchester United, was seen as an attractive option to strengthen FC Barcelona's attack in the past winter market, especially due to his versatility and talent. However, the financial limitations of the Catalans and the forward's high salary represented a significant obstacle to negotiating his arrival in January.
Looking ahead to the summer market, Barça still maintains interest in Rashford, as long as the player agrees to lower his salary and United gives the green light for his departure for an affordable amount. The England international has provided 4 assists in his first 9 matches with Aston Villa, once again showcasing the explosiveness that characterized him in his best years at Old Trafford.
United would prefer to send Rashford to Barcelona
Although he has not managed to score, he has been an important piece for Unai Emery's side, who are already thinking about a possible permanent transfer next summer. The winger arrived on loan for six months, with no option to buy, but Manchester needs to sell him as soon as possible to relieve his high wage bill (around €18.2M net per season).
In this sense, the 'red devils' are inclined to facilitate his exit, and Barça can take advantage of this. It is no coincidence that the latest rumors point to the '10' as a possible part of an operation that could take Raphinha to 'Man U'. This, of course, will only be possible if Rafa agrees to listen to offers, as the Brazilian is under contract until 2027.
Barça keeps the possibility of signing Rashford open
In Barcelona, meanwhile, his signing continues to generate divided opinions. The Barça legend, Rivaldo, supported the incorporation of Rashford, highlighting his ability to strengthen the team. On his part, the sporting director of Barça, Deco, explained that the interest in the United '10' was real, but financial limitations and the player's cost prevented the signing from materializing.
Hansi Flick, for his part, showed interest in Marcus due to his versatility and ability to perform in different offensive roles, which presents an attractive option to strengthen Barça's attack. Looking ahead to next summer, everything will depend on the offers that United may receive and the financial capacity of the Blaugrana to enter negotiations. For now, the Catalans still do not have enough cash on hand to cushion transfers.
