FC Barcelona has always been known for bringing out great talents. The Blaugrana team has one of the best youth teams in football worldwide, so it is no surprise to see new players every year in the first team or making the jump to other clubs with the aim of exploiting their full potential. Right now, there are 8 footballers that the Catalan team could 'recoup' if they so wish.
One of the most notable cases is that of Óscar Minguenza, who left the Blaugrana team at zero cost in 2022 to go to Celta. At the moment, he is one of the most important names in LaLiga, thanks to his great start to the season, where his performance earned him a return to the Spanish national team. Barça could get him back for 9 million euros, but he is not the only one with a chance of returning to Barcelona and we tell you who they are.
Estanis Pedrola
The 21-year-old forward joined Barcelona's youth system in 2021 and in 2023 he was loaned with an option to buy to Sampdoria. Ten games after his loan, the Italian club decided to buy him, but the Catalans reserved 50% of his future sale and a buy-back option of 7 million euros. He currently plays with the team in Serie B and last season he played 16 games, scoring three goals.
Francisco Trincao
This Portuguese attacker arrived in Barcelona in 2020. In his first season wearing the Barça shirt he played 42 games and scored three goals. The following season he was loaned with an option to buy to Wolverhampton, but the English did not make the transfer effective, so he was loaned again in 2022 to Sporting CP for a total of 10 million euros, 3 on loan and 7 under obligation to buy. The board secured 50% of the player's rights and have a €20M buyback option.
Carles Aleñá
The 26-year-old midfielder trained at La Masia since 2005 and stood out as one of the most promising players in the youth academy. He made his debut with the first team in 2016 under Luis Enrique, but was relegated after the arrival of Frenkie de Jong in 2018. A year later he was loaned to Real Betis and in January 2021 he was transferred to Getafe, who signed him in the summer of that year for €5 million. Barcelona will be able to buy him back for €10 million, if they do the deal before 2026.
Nico González
The 22-year-old player left for Porto in the summer of 2022 for €8.5 million and a €30 million buyback option. In addition, they reserve 40% of a future sale. González plays as a midfielder and played in the Barça youth academy since he was 11 years old, making his debut with the first team in the 2021/22 season. That campaign he scored two goals and provided two assists in 37 games played, all of this while being registered with the reserve team.
Riqui Puig
This 25-year-old midfielder went to MLS for free to play with the Los Angeles Galaxy two seasons ago. In 2013 he joined the lower categories of Barça, where he rose until he made his debut with the first team in 2018. However, he did not manage to be a regular in the call-ups, despite providing good performances in the few opportunities he had. He left for the United States in 2022, where he has played 72 games and has managed to score 21 goals. The board secured his repurchase although the amount has not been specified.
Abde Ezzazouli
The Moroccan national team striker arrived in Barcelona in the 2021/22 season with a second team contract. He made his first team debut on October 30, 2021 in a 1-1 draw against Alavés. In September 2022 he was loaned to Osasuna, but with the desire to have more minutes he decided to sign for Real Betis, who paid 7.5 million for 50% of his rights. Barça reserved a buyback option of 20 million euros.
Mika Faye
The 20-year-old defender signed for Barcelona in 2023 to play for the reserve team. Despite having a great season for this team, playing 35 games and scoring 4 goals, he was finally transferred to Rennes for 10.3 million euros. Having shown great potential, the Blaugrana club reserved 30% of his future transfer and a buy-back option of 25 million euros.
Óscar Mingueza
This last player has been rumored to return to the culé team soon. The player has had a great performance at the start of this LaLiga season and is a versatile player, capable of playing at right back, in defense and even in the midfield area. In 2022 he left for Celta after having spent practically his entire life at Barcelona. He left at zero cost but with a buy-back option of 9 million euros, which can be executed until 2026. They also secured 50% of his future sale. Therefore, if he continues to show a great level this season, he would be a great alternative for 2025.
