The name of Xavi Hernández continues to be mentioned for the bench of several 'heavyweights' in Europe. Juventus is the latest big club to show interest in the former FC Barcelona coach.
Juventus seems determined to start a new sports project next summer. The early elimination from the UEFA Champions League, in the playoff against PSV Eindhoven (3-1 on aggregate) and the poor performance of the team in Serie A (Juve is currently fourth, nine points off the top), along with the harsh defeat in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia against Empoli on penalties, have left Thiago Motta on the brink of the abyss.
In this sense, the management of the 'Vecchia Signora' is reportedly considering Xavi Hernández as a replacement for the Italian coach. Motta signed for three seasons, until June 2027, with a salary of 4 million euros. However, the poor results have deteriorated his relationship with the squad and even the Italian press does not rule out his dismissal before the end of the 2024/25 season.
In any case, Juve would consider going after the former FC Barcelona coach in the summer to start a completely renewed cycle. Ethe club plans to part ways with players like Dusan Vlahovic, Bremer, and other 'heavyweights', and Xavi, who had in mind a summer of many departures at Can Barça in 2024, would be the chosen one to lead the 'bianconeri' squad 'cleaning'.
Xavi Hernández, sought after in Europe after his time at Barça
Although his departure from Barça was complex, the Terrassa native left good records after his time with a Blaugrana team that, upon his arrival, was going through a severe sports and financial crisis. Xavi Hernández took the reins of the team in November 2021 and built the foundations of Hansi Flick's team, also winning a league and a Supercopa de España in 2023.
In total, the Terrassa-born coach managed 143 matches, with a record of 90 wins, 24 draws, and 29 losses (68.53% effectiveness). Under his leadership, Barça scored 276 goals and conceded 156. After a sabbatical year, the coach of xx years, who also won 4 titles with Al-Saad in Qatar, seems ready for a new adventure on the benches. Will Turin be his next destination?
