Barça Femení secured their place in the 'semis' of the UEFA Women's Champions League 2024-25 after crushing Wolfsburg (6-1)
The Barça Femení put on an impressive show at the Johan Cruyff Stadium to conclude their performance in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League 2024-25. The team led by Pere Romeu confidently secured their ticket to the 'semis' of the prestigious continental tournament, after defeating Wolfsburg with a resounding score of 6-1 (10-2 on aggregate).
An extraordinary day that had as its great heroines Salma Paralluelo (9' and 19') and Claudia Pina (61' and 76'), each scoring a brace. These goals were complemented by strikes from Esmee Brugts (40') and Mapi León (90'). This was answered by a timid goal from Lineth Beerensteyn in the 71st minute.
Salma quickly set the tone for the rout with a brace
From the first half, the azulgranas already had the match practically under control, as they led 3-0 at halftime. Salma Paralluelo started the scoring frenzy just 10 minutes in. The former sprinter, moving down the left flank, took advantage of a well-placed through ball courtesy of Aitana. After a long run with little opposition, she managed to enter the area and, with a powerful left-footed shot, sent the ball into the back of the net.

The 1-0 did not quench Salma's thirst for goals, as she extended the lead ten minutes later. In the 20th minute, she received a pass from Esmee Brugts in the heart of the area and, despite being surrounded by four opposing defenders, unleashed a 'whip' with the inside of her right foot, easily beating goalkeeper Anneke Borbe.

Esmee Brugts' goal sent the match to halftime 3-0
The 2-0 held for much of the first half, with Barcelona controlling the game and creating opportunities. All this in front of a Wolfsburg that could only resort to counterattacks to try to reduce the deficit on the scoreboard. However, their main obstacle was their inability to capitalize on the goal-scoring opportunities they generated.
In the 41st minute, Barça extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal from Esmee Brugts. The Dutch player seized on a poorly cleared ball by the Wolfsburg defense, received it at the edge of the area, and after a masterful control, launched a powerful shot to the near post that met no resistance from the opponents. This was the last significant action of the first half, in which Barcelona practically sealed the tie, leaving the next 45 minutes as a mere formality.
The second half was a true reflection of the first: total domination by Barcelona
The second half was also going to be a culé monologue, as upon stepping onto the pitch of the Johan Cruyff, the azulgrana team maintained practically the same rhythm as in the first half, dominating the ball and looking to exploit the opponent's weaknesses. Although they did not take too many risks, they were sharp in every offensive.
Indeed, in the 61st minute, the culés increased their lead to 4-0 thanks to Claudia Pina, this time the forward benefited from an assist from Alexia Putellas. The '9' was going to demonstrate the specialty of the house by controlling the ball oriented to launch a powerful shot from outside the area towards the near post. This left the German goalkeeper with no reaction once again, who had to retrieve the ball from her net for the fourth time that day.
However, with the score at 4-0 against, Wolfsburg managed to score a perhaps undeserved goal, in an attempt to reduce the overwhelming difference on the scoreboard in favor of the culés. The Germans converted a goal courtesy of Lineth Beerensteyn in the 71st minute, taking advantage of an unfortunate error in the buildup from the back.
Pina and León sealed the deal with stunning free-kick goals
Nevertheless, this would not be enough to turn the match around, as Barcelona would extend their lead in the 77th minute with a spectacular goal from Claudia Pina through a free kick. A powerful right-footed shot extremely angled towards the left corner of the opponent's goal. Nothing to be done for Anneke Borbe despite her great dive.
Football schools around the world, put this goal on repeat 😍

Finally, a goal in the 90 + 1 minute courtesy of Mapi León, who, like Claudia Pina, converted a goal via a free kick, sealed the azulgrana victory with a resounding 6-1.

This score positions Barça Femení once again as one of the favorites to defend the title of European champions, making it clear once again why they are one of the most feared teams in the world. Now they will only have to see which team they will face in the 'semis' of the tournament, which could be either Chelsea or Manchester City.
